Stylish Laptop Stand

mStand Workstation

Apple Blog has a nice review of the Rain Design mStand, the laptop stand designed for Macs and to look pretty next to a Cinema Display. I own two of these, one for work and one for home. My favorite feature is the cord management hole in back and the ability to store the keyboard under the stand.

If you regularly use a laptop while sitting a desk, a laptop stand and external peripherals (keyboard and mouse) are crucial for decent ergonomics. The only exception I have ever seen is the guy who would keep the laptop in his lap, lean way back in his chair, and then prop his feet on the pulled out bottom drawer of his steel desk. But he doesn’t have that desk anymore and probably now needs to get a laptop stand!

    Hey, I’m famous!

I have actually upped my game a bit. I found it annoying for a while that my new desk didn’t have a good drawer for my feet. I tried and tried, but the drawer just isn’t strong enough or at the right height. I do miss that old drawer. I wound up starting to just put my feet all the way up on the desk. It’s nice and comfy.

But this week I’m working on the opposite problem from this post. I just got an octo desktop and need to use that instead of my laptop. So I need to figure out a way to have the keyboard and mouse in my lap. It’s not working well so far, but I hope I can figure it out.
