US Institutions

  • Northern Arizona University - B.S. with Physics and Astronomy major. Research areas include theory of supernova, nearby stars, young stars, protoplanetary disks, astrobiology, kuiper belt objects, comets, solar system evolution.
  • Swarthmore - B.A. with Physics, Astrophysics, or Astronomy major. Research areas include young stars, protoplanetary disks, hot star winds, and x-ray astronomy.
  • Villanova - B.S. with Astronomy & Astrophysics major. Reasearch. Research areas include white dwarfs, cool stars, M dwarfs, eclipsing binaries, variable stars, and interstellar material.
  • Case Western Reserve University
  • University of Washington
  • University of Colorado at Boulder
  • Columbia University
  • Pennsylvania State University
  • Princeton
  • Berkeley
  • Notre Dame - Physics department with an astronomy “concentration.” Students take a four course sequence in astronomy within our physics major: introductory astro (largely stellar astrophysics), observational techniques, advanced theoretical astro (largely galaxies and cosmology), and relativity. Eighh professors studying issues such as extrasolar planets, the intergalactic medium, and the nature of dark energy. We have a new on-campus 0.8-m telescope with which students can get hands-on training. We own a share of the Large Binocular Telescope, a 2 x 8.4-m telescope that we use regularly, and we have access to the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (1.8-m). Both of these are on Mt. Graham (AZ). In addition, we have a state-of-the-art digital planetarium, and we offer a teaching / outreach practicum that trains students to use this facility.
  • Florida Institute of Technology offers programs in physics, astronomy & astrophysics, planetary science, and astrobiology. A variety of research topics. Access to a network of small telescopes. One of the largest astronomy programs in the country (based on number of graduates).
