Support for graduate research:

Travel awards and other small grants

  • AAS Doxsey Prize - travel money to present doctoral research at the winter AAS.
  • AAS International Travel Grant - travel money for international conferences.
  • Sigma Xi travel grants - grants of up to $1,000 to students from all areas of the sciences and engineering. Grants of up to $5,000 for astronomy research and $2,500 for vision related research. Students use the funding to pay for travel expenses to and from a research site, or for purchase of non-standard laboratory equipment necessary to complete a specific research project.
  • Gerald A. Soffen Memorial Fund Travel Grant - For undergraduate or graduate students in astrobiology, astronomy, earth and space science, engineering, etc. to attend a meeting at which they will present their research. Deadline in April for summer meetings, in October for Winter ones.
  • Pierazzo International Student Travel Award - 2 grants of $2,000 will be awarded to graduate students each year to support international travel. One award will be made to a student at a US institution to travel to a planetary science meeting or workshop outside of the US and one award will be made to a student at a non-US institution to travel to a meeting inside the US.
